Valencia’s 2024 Book Fair!

If you’re a bookworm then this weeks blog is right up your street! The countdown to the 59th edition of » La feria del libro» in other words, Valencia Book Fair has already begun. This event, which sets the cultural agenda for spring, also serves as a meeting point for readers, booksellers, and authors and will be held from April 25th to May 5th in the Viveros Gardens.

What is Valencia’s book fair?

As you may of guessed, it’s all about books (and little more). To put it simply, the main bookstores from the city and the province of Valencia will participate, as well as publishers, distributors, and public entities with their own editorial funds in an attempt to promote the presence of the Valencian publishing sector. Its great if you’re coming to the end of your beloved book and are thinking about what you want to read next!

Last year, Valencia’s book fair broke the record for exhibitors as it held more than 200 activities and presentations, as well as and hosting over a thousand signings by authors. One thing is sure, this is an event that really can’t be missed!

What does the fair have to offer?

To give you a bit of an idea, Valencia’s book fair will include a big variety of event such as presentations, signings, book clubs, debates, award ceremonies, and even reading promotion activities for school audiences. The book clubs will take place on Thursday, April 25th at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m., respectively. The book clubs offer more than just general information and really let their participants express themselves and their ideas, it’s great if you want to talk about your likes and dislikes with a range of different people.

The book chosen for the Spanish book club is «Bajo tierra seca» by the Valladolid-born writer specializing in crime fiction, César Pérez Gellida. So, in other words.. it’s time to get reading!

Another highlight of the Book Fair is the diverse array of authors and the amount of talent that comes together for this event. Renowned writers from Spain and beyond gather here to engage with their audience, sharing insights into their creative process, discussing the themes of their works, and signing copies for eager fans. It’s a rare opportunity to meet literary idols in person and gain a deeper understanding of the stories that have touched our hearts and minds.

But the fair is not just about famous authors; it’s also a platform for emerging talent to showcase their work and connect with readers. You may not have heard of some of the authors or the books before the fair, but you can end up falling in love with their style of writing, expressions and their upcoming reads. There is nothing better than finding a new book to get stuck into at the end of each day!

A bit about EUROACE’s library

Whilst we are on the topic of books, we thought it was a good idea to mention the collection of books we also have here at EUROACE. We always try to encourage our students to read as much as they can to improve their language schools, and it is easy for them to do this as we offer our own selection of Spanish and English books to enjoy.

They cover a wide range of topics and themes and also include grammar books and books specified for language learning. The deposit for our books is only 5€ and you can borrow them at anytime! Come and check it out!
