Discovering Valencia: Must-Visit Places for Our Students

Valencia, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and beautiful beaches, is an amazing place to live and study.

Valencia has a lot to offer, and do you know the best part? Valencia has so many places that you can reach without transportation! Read on to find out about all of them:

 

Urban parks

  • Jardines del Túria (Turia Gardens): You don’t need transportation to visit this long and beautiful park that stretches through the city. It’s perfect for jogging, cycling, or simply taking a peaceful walk. You can also explore the many bridges and landmarks along the way.
  • Parque de Viveros (Viveros Park): Just a short walk from the city center, Viveros Park is an excellent place for a picnic, or to simply relax under the shade of trees. Keep an eye out for the beautiful sculptures scattered throughout the park.
  • Jardines de Monforte (Monforte Gardens): These romantic gardens are a hidden gem in Valencia. You can explore the meticulously landscaped gardens, fountains, and sculptures. It’s a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle!

  • Mercado de Colón (Colón Market): A short walk from the city center, this modernist market is not just for shopping but also for dining and people-watching. Enjoy a coffee or a meal in its charming surroundings.
  • Mercado Central (Central Market): Located in the heart of Valencia, this bustling market is a feast for the senses. You can sample local foods, shop for fresh produce, and experience the lively atmosphere.

 

Heritage

  • Torres de Serrano (Serranos Towers): These medieval towers are part of the city’s historic defense system. You can climb to the top for panoramic views of Valencia.
  • Plaza de la Virgen (The Virgin’s Square): This historic square is a great place to soak in Valencia’s culture. It’s surrounded by impressive buildings, including the Valencia Cathedral and the Basilica of the Virgin Mary. You can also enjoy a meal or a drink at one of the nearby cafes.

 

Beaches

Some of the towns and areas near Valencia that are worth considering for day trips or longer stays and are accessible by public transport include coastal towns like Cullera, Gandia and Peñíscola, or historical towns like Xàtiva, Requena and Sagunto.

The Albufera Natural Park of Valencia is also a must-escape in your stay in the city. It combines unique landscapes, diverse wildlife, and a rich culinary tradition, making it a very popular tourist destination in the Valencia region.

It has plenty of trails and viewpoints that allow visitors to enjoy nature, observe birds, and take photographs.
