Summer Festivals
The Valencian Community is Spain’s key area for Summer festivals. Sun, music and the beach is the perfect combination to enjoy a few days of your favourite artists or even artists you might have never heard before of. Here is a list of the most popular ones.
FIB- Festival Internacional de Benicassim
It has been happening from 1995, and important artists from all around the world come to Benicassim (around 1 hour away from Valencia) to celebrate music during a 4 day long festival. This year 65.000 people attended, mainly from the UK and Ireland, and it has been claimed to be one of Spain’s most valuable festivals. For instance, in this summer’s line up we could see artists like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro, well-known international musicians.
Festival de Les Arts
This festival only started in 2015, yes it has one of the best rock-indie line-ups in Spain. It takes place in Valencia, and this year it happened the 9th and 10th of July. However, contrary to FIB, attendants of this festival are mainly Spanish, as the majority of its artists are Spanish speaking too. This doesn’t mean that non-Spanish artists do not play- this year there were artists like The Vaccines and Jake Bugg.
Arenal Sound
The Arenal Sound takes place around 40 minutes from Valencia, in a town called Burriana. Recently, it has become very popular due to its low price, ranging from 40-100 euros, and still impressing with a line-up full of international artists. It is next to the beach, which makes the atmosphere different to other festivals, as people enjoy the beach during the day and the music during the night. This year it is taking place from the 1st to the 6th of August, with electronic artists like Martin Garrix, and pop ones like Bastille and Clean Bandit. Note that there are lots of Spanish artists too, and you still have time to bag yourself a ticket!
Rototom Sunsplash
Again, this festival occurs in the town of Benicassim, and it is the best Reggae Festival in Europe, with people attending from all around the world. 8 days of music, culture, peace and unity, which shows different lifestyles of individuals of any age. As mentioned, even though music is an essential part of the festival, it is the atmosphere and vibe that transmit a different style of festival, and again, for a very low price.
ElectroSplash
Last but not least, is this electronic festival that occurs in the Marina Sur of Valencia. This Summer it is taking this week-end, the 21st and 22nd of July, so check it out and maybe go for a day! It is also useful to know that there is a range of artists, both Spanish and international.
Make sure to check the line-ups on-line and maybe you still have time to attend one of them!!
