1. Las Fallas

Fireworks, firecrackers, the smell of gunpowder, enormous paper-maché monuments engulfed by flames, world-class artwork destroyed in the blink of an eye… what sounds like an embattled war zone is actually the highlight of Valencia’s most famous cultural festival: Las Fallas. It takes place every March. Make sure you do not miss it.

2. The Mediterranean Coast

Its privileged geographical location by the Mediterranean shores (just steps away from downtown Valencia) have provided the city with prosperous sea commerce, fresh and delicious seafood and a numerous amount of popular sandy beaches. Kilometres away you have mountainous inlands perfect for hiking and trekking, sprawling natural parks and a wealth of fascinating day-trips for international student to enjoy.

3. The food – Paella

Paella is Spain’s national dish and Valencia is where it all started. You can eat it with chicken or with seafood, never mixed. With great fresh products, Valencia has mastered the rice recipe and international students can enjoy in many of its restaurants how the globally known dish actually looks, smells and tastes.

4. City of Sports

For all sports lover Valencia has become a paradise. With three teams competing at LaLiga’s top level (Valencia CF, Villarreal CF, Levante) Valencia is one of the few cities that allows international students to enjoy games against Real Madrid, Barcelona or Premier League teams during European competitions. The city also offers the chance to watch top professional basketball, sailing competitions, volleyball, and numerous running circuits including half marathon and a marathon.
