September is one of the best moments to visit valencia for travelers and students alike. Why? The summer heat starts to ease up, the crowds of tourist get thinner, and the real day to day life comes back to the city. But that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing to do, it just means that things get much more relaxed. Here are some things that are going on this September, and remember that at Euroace Spanish School in Valencia we are here to help you experience Valencia like a local with our cultural activities.
Fiesta del Arroz in Sueca
📅 When: Sunday, September 14, 2025
📍 Where: Paseo de la Estación, Sueca
Just half an hour south of Valencia, Sueca turns into the paella capital every September. Fiesta del Arroz marks its 64th edition in 2025 and hosts the prestigious International Valencian Paella Contest. Chefs from all over the world come to cook their version of paella in the heart of Sueca, competing for recognition in a contest that’s internationally renowned.
This year, the event pays tribute to Antonio Puchades, “Tonico,” a legendary footballer from Sueca. The official poster, designed by Valencian artist Laura Granell, captures both his sporting legacy and the universal journey of paella: “From the fields to the world.”
You’ll find more than just the competition. The whole town becomes a big party with live music, cultural activities, and food tastings.
The celebration obviously is deeply tied to Valencian roots and the more rustic culture of Valencia, so if you wanna feel like a true local this is the place to be. It’s a chance to experience paella where it was born and join a local tradition that’s become a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest.
World Paella Day – September 20
📅 When: Saturday, September 20, 2025
📍 Where: La Marina de València
If one paella celebration isn’t enough, Valencia doubles down with World Paella Day on September 20. This international event highlights paella as a global dish while honoring its Valencian origins.
The highlight is the World Paella Day Cup, held at La Marina de València, where chefs from around the world compete to cook their own paella in a friendly yet fiery contest. Alongside the competition, you can enjoy cultural activities, guided tours of Valencia’s Central Market, trips to the rice fields of the Albufera, and hands-on cooking experiences.
The vibe is exciting, with locals and visitors alike celebrating paella as more than food: its identity, history, and community all in one. Paella is Valencia.
