Valencia this July: Summer’s Best in Jardines del Turia

Did you know that Valencia is home to one of Spain’s largest urban parks? Jardines del Turia aren’t just a green space: they’re the perfect place where your Spanish learning comes alive amongst concerts, festivals, and authentic Valencian culture.

This summer, this 9-kilometre green lung connecting the historic centre with the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias transforms into the city’s most vibrant cultural epicentre. At EUROACE, we want you to discover why Jardines del Turia are much more than a park: they’re your open-air classroom!

1st July: Valencia Dresses Up in Style

The magic begins on 1st July with the inauguration of Fira Valencia 2025 under the name ‘Piano Sky’: a live piano concert situated 4 metres high in plaza del Ayuntamiento.

This concert will combine live music with a light show, dancers, and fireworks: a reflection of Valencia’s innovative and musical character.

With this inauguration, and running until 25th July, Valencia launches a month packed with activities throughout the city, not only in Jardines del Turia.

Cultural immersion tip: Practice Spanish whilst sharing the excitement with Valencians gathering to celebrate the start of summer. It’s the perfect opportunity for spontaneous conversations and discovering local expressions that you probably won’t learn in the classroom.

Conciertos de Viveros: Where Music Unites Languages

The Viveros Concerts are undoubtedly the musical soul of Valencian summer. Throughout July, artists such as Los Secretos, Rosario, Vanesa Martín, Europe, Luis Fonsi, Simple Minds, and The Human League will fill the evenings with melodies that transcend linguistic barriers.

Jardines de Viveros will become a musical landmark, offering a wide variety of styles ranging from pop and rock to jazz, swing, electronic music, and flamenco.

Cultural immersion tip: Arrive early to concerts! The hours beforehand are perfect for practising Spanish with other attendees, sharing a drink, and experiencing the Spanish tertulia.

Gran Feria: Attractions and Fun in Spanish

The summer funfair returns to Jardines del Turia until 3rd August, offering a unique experience where adults and children can live adventures and feel the thrill of attractions in the heart of Valencia.

Cultural immersion tip: Practice Spanish by buying tickets or asking about attractions, and learn specific vocabulary full of adrenaline and emotions: “¡Qué mareo!” (How dizzy!), “Me da yuyu” (It gives me the jitters), “Me bajo de la vida” (I’m getting off this ride/life!)… are expressions you’ll surely hear around the attractions!!

Batalla de Flores: A Blooming Tradition

The traditional Batalla de Flores (Battle of Flowers) represents one of the most colourful and photogenic moments of Valencian summer. This event forms part of the city’s July festive calendar and allows you to witness a tradition combining art and history.

Since 1891, this tradition has been celebrated on the last Sunday of July, and this year it will take place on Sunday 27th July from 8:00 PM in paseo de la Alameda. Over one million carnations from the Valencian countryside are thrown each year from 40 floats decorated with this flower.

The floats will feature girls and women preselected to form part of the courts of honour of Valencia’s 2025 Falleras Mayores, representatives from various Fallas sectors, and the Falleras Mayores of Valencia for 2025 and 2024.

Cultural immersion tip: It’s the perfect moment to learn about traditional Valencian festivals, their history and significance. Take advantage to practice Spanish by asking about this event and other celebrations to discover how Valencians experience their culture.

Beyond Events: Your Permanent Green Classroom

The gardens boast numerous facilities including bars, cycle lanes, sports courts, fountains, and fitness areas. Every corner presents a practice opportunity.

Take advantage to practice Spanish whilst ordering coffee, hiring a bicycle to explore these gardens, or participating in group sporting activities (such as yoga or calisthenics).

Jardines del Turia also provide a perfect setting for our Spanish classes. Many of our teachers make use of the cooler hours of the day and the shade of the large trees to conduct outdoor lessons where our students practice Spanish whilst enjoying the Mediterranean life.

Your Summer, Your Learning Experience

Jardines del Turia aren’t merely Valencia’s green lung and one of Europe’s most impressive urban parks; they’re the heart where the city’s social life beats. This summer, whilst perfecting your Spanish in our classes, you’ll have the unique opportunity to experience the language in an authentic and festive context.

Let your Spanish flourish under the Mediterranean sun and in the shade of the Turia Gardens. Make the most of this park during July!
