Resources for A1 Spanish Students

Mi rutina y yo

Get students moving with “Mi rutina y yo”! This active classroom task helps A1 learners practice everyday Spanish while building confidence, memory, and teamwork.

What it is about: Students work in pairs to answer questions about the daily routines of five different characters. The texts are placed around the classroom, so one student must go and read the information, remember it, and return to tell their partner, who writes it down. Then they switch roles. It’s a simple but effective way to practice routine vocabulary, reading comprehension, and speaking in an interactive format.

Level: A1  Estimated Time: 45 min

  • Practice vocabulary related to daily routines, jobs, and hobbies.
  • Review the present simple in Spanish, including reflexive and some irregular verbs.

El Monstruo de Euroace

Looking for a fun, creative way to get your beginner students reading and writing? “El monstruo de Euroace” (Euroace’s Monster) is a highly engaging, two-part activity perfect for A0-A1 learners.

What it is about: In the first part of this activity, students are introduced to Blablú, the friendly school monsterThey will read a short text about him and answer reading comprehension questions. In the second part, students take the reins! Working in pairs or small groups, they will invent their very own monster, draw it in detail, and write a description for itTo complete the task, students will practice using the foundational verbs sertener, and llevar.

What it is about: Students review “dating profiles” of real Spanish celebrities and work in teams to invent their perfect romantic matches. After presenting and debating the best candidates, the class decides who gets the date! It’s a playful way to organically practice how certain adjectives drastically change meaning when used with the verbs ser and estar.

Learning Objectives:

  • Get to know current Spanish celebrities.
  • Discover and practice the changes in meaning of adjectives like bueno, malo, rico, listo, verde, and negro when used with the verbs SER and ESTAR.

Torre de colores

Turn revision into a lively classroom challenge with “Torre de colores”! This game-based activity helps students review key language content in a more dynamic, collaborative, and motivating way.

What it is about:
Students play in teams and take turns removing numbered coloured blocks from a tower. Each block matches a question card, and players must answer correctly before placing the piece back on top.  The activity touches upon grammar, definitions, spelling, vocabulary, mime, and culture.

What it is about:
Students roll a die and answer the question from the square they land on, making sure to use the correct past tense. Learners naturally work with the four past tenses of the indicative while speaking about real-life situations, helping students gain fluency and confidence through oral interaction.

Conectores condicionales

B2 - Conectores condicionales Ejercicio Español Euroace

What it is about:
Students must ask another player a question related to the topic of that square using the simple conditional. The answering player then draws a card with a negative conditional connector and must respond using that connector correctly. With topics ranging from travel and food to social challenges and extreme situations, the game encourages spontaneous speaking, creativity, and accurate grammar use in a lively, interactive way.

Level: B2–C1

Frases con colores

What it is about:

Students work with conversation cards built around Spanish colour expressions such as ponerse rojo como un tomate, verlo todo negro, luz verde or media naranja. The activity can be used in two ways: with incomplete expressions, where students first guess the missing colour and then answer the question, or with complete cards, where they simply respond and pass the turn to a classmate.
