Student Spotlight: Interview with an Intern!

We went behind the scenes to interview some of our students about their internship experiences! Meet Kenia, she partook in an internship in the architecture sector, read on to learn more about her experience and our internship programs in EUROACE!

  1. If you could only use a few sentences, how would you describe your overall internship experience?

My internship was a new field in which I could work and develop. I was able to develop my skills and learn more about the field I’m working in. Working with this company has helped me a lot to develop my existing knowledge and to rethink it.

  1.     What did you like the most?

I enjoyed learning new things I didn’t know before at home until I arrived here for my internship. I developed new skills in different aspects of my career. The architect took his time to help me understand some aspects I wasn’t familiar with.

  1.     Did you face any challenges? How did you overcome them?

The best part of this exchange was the learning process, and that was the foundation of this internship. The biggest challenge was adapting to the company, something I easily achieved with the support of my supervisor.

  1.     Would you say the internship contributed to your professional development?

It has helped me a lot in my professional development. It was a new experience that helped me build my professional character, and with all the necessary support they provided, I can say it was a good exchange.

  1.     Did you acquire new skills?

I developed new skills by learning about new tools that I hadn’t used in my country. They gave me the opportunity to grow my knowledge, and their explanations were very helpful in my commitment to continue growing.

  1.     Did you like the work environment?

It was a good work environment, very good for an exchange full of respect and understanding where everything was based on learning new things, and the experience was always positive because it went hand in hand with education.

  1.     Was the language barrier much of a challenge for you?

It wasn’t a barrier at all because we both spoke the same language, and that helped maintain direct communication. We were able to clearly understand each other on all the necessary aspects of the job.

  1.     Did the program meet your expectations?

It exceeded my expectations as a student to become a future professional because it helped me grow professionally and continue to grow in different areas that I can now put into practice.

  1.     Do you have any advice for future interns who will participate in this program?

I would encourage them to take on these internships to continue growing in the environment where they will be working in the future. It helped me grow in a positive way, and allowed me to gain a closer look at the work being done.

  1. What was the most valuable thing you learned during your time as an intern?

The most valuable thing I learned during this time was just all the general knowledge that I could gather in these months, all of the information I learned . It also helped me have a new perspective on the work environment.
