Spring has Sprung!

After what feel like one of the longest (and rainiest) winters in Valencia, it finally feels like Spring «la primavera» has arrived! Here at Euroace we are so excited for some more outdoor plans and activities with the arrival of the good weather, we thought we would share some of favourite spring plans with you all!

1.

Horchata is back!

One of the signatures of the arrival of spring and the good weather, is horchata season! Horchata, for anyone who doesn´t know, is one of Valencia´s most typical gastronimic delights, a kind-of cold «nut-milk» which consists of only three ingredients; water, suger and chufa (tigernuts). Horchata is typically consumed alongside some warm fartons, a spongey sweet bread.  One of our favourite things do in the nice weather is sit on a sunny terraza and tomar una horchata con fartons. You can try horchata in the city in the famous Horchatería de Santa Catalina, or an even better plan in the good weather, is to cycle out to Alboraia (the birth place of horchata) and go to Horchatería Vida,  which has just opened for the spring and is located right in the chufa fields. Keep your eyes peeled however, as we often host horchata tastings here with Euroace too!

2.

Cycle through Turia Gardens

Speaking of cycling, another great plan in the finer weather is to go for a cycle through our green belt, the Turia park, which runs through the city. You can cycle the whole 9 kilomentres of lush greenery, which runs from the Biopark all the way down to the City of Arts and Sciences, and pass by countless landscaped gardens, ponds, fountains and playgrounds along the way. You can rent a bike for only a couple of euro a day, or take out a Valenbisi subscription, (mind you this is more of a workout!). You can take a picnic with you and stop along the way to watch all of the people, both from and not from Valencia, exercising, painting, reading or just soaking up the spring sunshine.

3.

Music events

Valencia comes alive with music in the spring. There are countless music events on, and with the arrival of the good weather they move out doors, for all to enjoy. Berklee college of Music Valencia each spring presents Un lago de conciertos, where up and coming musicians play free outdoor giggs by the lakes of the City of Arts and Sciences, you can check out the timetabe here. Concerts al Veles is another unbeatable spring plan, as every Saturday morning, small rock/indie bands play in the amazing Veles e Vents building with the stunning backdrop of the Marina. Its not free, but starting from 10€ its sure worth it! Find more information here. If you are into more electronic music, there is also the Jardí electrònica,  a free house music event, which takes place every couple of weeks in Park Central, the perfect plan to enjoy some music in the sunshine! Find out more information here!

4.

 Explore the Albufera Natural Park

If you haven´t visited the Albufera yet, this is the perfect time to do so! Not only because of the good weather, but because you might see some special visitors! Each Spring, thousands of wid flamingoes migrate to the Albufera for the mating season, so its the perfect opportunity to see some wildlife and reconnect with nature. You can get the number 25 bus from the city centre to the Albufera, where you can either get off at the Albufera embarcador for a lakeside picnic and sunset spot, or continue to the town of El Palmar (the birth place of Paella) to eat the traditional dish where it was created and afterwards, take a boat around the lagoon.

5.

The best time for Hiking

Undoubtledly, the best time to do routes, excurisons or to go hiking, is in the spring, as you have the perfect not-too-hot-not-too-cold temperature and the days are a little bit longer. Serra Calderona Natural Park, located just outside Valencia, has a range of trails, from easy walks to more challenging hikes, all offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and landscape. There are many walks and hikes that are not too far from the city, however,  they can often be difficult to reach without private transport, so it is important to bear that in mimd.

6.

Your own Spring Excursion

Spring has arrived and we want to celebrate it! That is why here at Euroace we have organised a day trip to Xàtiva castle, a train journey of approx. 1 hour, to arrive at the hilltop town, where we will do a short, but steep, walk up to the the castle whose oldest parts date all the way back to Roman times! The excursion will take place this Saturday 29th of March from 9am to 4pm for only 35€ which includes your transport and guided tour! You can let us know at reception if you would like to join or text us on whatsapp at +34699795751. Don´t forget the sunscreen!
