How to Help Those Affected by the DANA Storm in Valencia

The recent DANA storm has brought heavy rain, floods, and considerable damage to parts of the Valencian Community, leaving many families, neighborhoods, and even animals in need. Thanks to the growing sense of solidarity throughout the region, several initiatives are now open to the public for anyone who wants to lend a helping hand.

Here’s how you can contribute to the recovery efforts, whether you’re in Valencia or helping from other parts of Spain.

Emergency Contacts and Missing Persons Assistance

For families of missing persons, an emergency hotline has been set up: 900 365 112. In case of emergencies, dial 112.

A collaborative map called SOS Valencia has been created to help locate missing people by marking where they were last seen. You can access it here to provide or seek information.

Donation Drop-Offs for Essentials

Many cities across the region have organized donation points to collect essentials such as clothing, blankets, and food for distribution. Here are some of the current locations:

  • Torrent
    • What’s needed: Clothing of all sizes, blankets, diapers, and food.
    • Where to donate: C/ del Sol, 1, Torrent
  • Riba-roja de Túria
    • What’s needed: Warm clothing and blankets.
    • Where to donate: CEIP Cervantes (C/ Metge Fleming, 2)
  • Valencia City
    • What’s needed: Food, clothing, and essential supplies.
    • Where to donate: C/ San Juan Bosco, 48, Valencia

Help for Animal Shelters

Many animal shelters are in dire need of help, as some animals have been left without a home and require temporary housing. If you can foster an animal for a few days, it would be an immense help. Here’s how you can assist:

  • El Refugio de María has set up a contact line at WhatsApp: 662 68 17 99 for those interested in fostering animals. Donations of towels, beds, and food for the animals can be dropped off at C/ Jordi de Sant Jordi, 13, Valencia.
  • Wide Balance Pet Store (C/ San Vicente Mártir, 135, Valencia) is accepting donations of pet food and other essentials for Modepran shelter, which has been seriously impacted by the storm.

Blood Donations

Hospitals are in need of blood donations to meet increased demand during this emergency. A dedicated donation site has been set up:

  • Location: Institut Luis Vives, C/ Xàtiva, 11, Valencia
  • Date: Wednesday, October 30
  • Time: 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Equipment Donations in Chiva

If you own heavy equipment such as trailers, tractors, or excavators, these are in high demand for recovery efforts. You can bring these to the Ayuntamiento de Chiva.

Financial Contributions to Red Cross and Cáritas

If you’d like to contribute financially, both the Red Cross and Cáritas in Valencia are accepting donations:

  • Red Cross Valencia
    • Phone donations: 900 1049 71
    • Bizum code: 33512
    • SMS donations: Send «AYUDA» to 38092
  • Cáritas Valencia

Support from Other Autonomous Communities

If you are outside Valencia, you can still help through donation centers in major cities. For instance, in Madrid, Barcelona, and Pozuelo de Alarcón, there are galleries and organizations collecting essentials to be delivered to Valencia.

By contributing in any way possible, you’re helping rebuild lives and communities affected by the storm. Even small actions can make a significant difference in times of crisis, and Valencia deeply appreciates your support. Stay safe, and thank you for showing solidarity with those in need.
