EUROACE´S Gandia day trip!
One of the best things about our programs at EUROACE is the variety of cultural activities we offer each week. Although our students and interns have the chance to meet people through their internships and their Spanish courses, it is sometimes hard to make new connections and really understand a new culture and tradition all alone with no help. Our cultural activities help to bring our students together and also encourage them to learn about Valencian culture and tradition. Whats more is that you are accompanied by one of our Euroace representatives (it is almost like having a proffessional guide).
Today we have chosen to talk about one of our most popular day trips to help give you a bit of an insight into the itinery and to tell you a bit about whats included. Our Gandia day trip is probably one of the most unique activities and we have one coming up next Saturday, the 24th of August! Keep reading to find out everything it involves..
What is Gandia like?
Gandia is a vibrant coastal city located in the province of Valencia, Spain. Under an hour away by car and only an hour and ago by train, Gandia offers a blend of cultural, historical, and natural attractions that make it a compelling destination for many tourists. Locals flock to the beaches during the summer too so it is a place enjoyed by everyone!
What does the activity include?
Gandia has both a rich historical background and stunning views, meaning there is plenty to do here throughout the whole year. Our main activity involves a visit to the Ducal Palace of the Borja, the former residence of the infamous Borgia family. It is a must visit for those interested in history, architecture and the fascinating legacy of the Borja family. The palace was their ancestral home, and visiting it provides a unique opportunity to delve into the history of the Borgias, one of the most powerful and controversial families in Renaissance Europe.
The Ducal Palace is a stunning example of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, with later Baroque additions. The building’s façade and interior are richly decorated, showcasing the artistic and architectural trends of the time. One of the highlights you´ll definitely not miss is the impressive Golden Gallery, with its intricate coffered ceiling, and also the Ceremonial Hall, which features beautiful tapestries.
The palace houses a collection of valuable art and artifacts, including Renaissance paintings, religious icons, and intricately carved wooden ceilings. These works of art not only enhance the palace’s aesthetic appeal but also provide a deeper understanding of the cultural and artistic milieu of the Renaissance period.
All in all, our visit to the place offers a rich educational experience. When walking through the Ducal Palace, you can almost feel the presence of history. The palace’s well-preserved rooms and halls make it easy to imagine the lives of its former residents. The atmosphere is both majestic and intimate, it is not one to miss!
Gandia´s beaches
After our visit to the palace, there is well deserved beach time. Gandia is famous for its stunning beaches, particularly Playa de Gandia. The beach stretches for several kilometers, featuring fine golden sand and clear waters, making it ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. The Blue Flag status of these beaches ensures their cleanliness and the quality of facilities.
There is no better time to take a trip to Gandia than in August. The sun is shining, all of the restaurants and beach bars will be open for refreshments and the atmosphere of the town is welcoming and inviting.
Culinary delights
If gastronomy from new places interests you, then Gandia is a great place to take a trip. Gandia offers a taste of authentic Valencian cuisine, with specialties like fideuà, a local dish similar to paella but made with noodles instead of rice. The city’s markets and restaurants provide a wide range of local produce, seafood, and wines, giving visitors a true taste of the region.
Our cultural activities are a vital part of your experience here at EUROACE and we recommend that everyone participates in them to make the most out of your experience! If you are interested in joining our activity to Gandia next week, please send us an email to euroace@euroace.net to sign up.
