This may be the most obvious way to enjoy but we would definitely recommend celebrating the day by indulging in that book you’ve had your eye on for a while. As well as treating yourself to a nice new read, you can also spread the love by gifting books to family or friends on this special day. Why not make a day of it and organize a book themed picnic? You can grab some blankets, snacks and drinks and head to your local park or picnic spot and immerse yourselves in your favorite books! Another great way to celebrate is to organize a book club which is particularly great if you enjoy expressing your ideas and theories.

Host a book exchange

Organize a book exchange event with friends, family, or colleagues. Each participant can bring a book they love and exchange it for another. Not only are you able to read some great books for free, it’s also a  great way to discover new reads and share your favorite stories with others. Just like after you see a film or play a new videogame, its always a great feeling to be able to talk to people about their views and opinions and find out what they’d change if they could. What’s more, you could make this book exchange into a regular thing and end up discussing all sorts of topics such as the plot, the characters and the themes.

Make sure to visit your favorite local bookstore and show your support by purchasing a book or two. Many independent bookstores host special events on World Book Day, such as author signings or book readings. By shopping locally, you’re not only celebrating books but also contributing to your community.

A great example of this is Valencia’s Book fair which will be taking place from April 25th to May 5th at the Jardines del Real. A multitude of activities will take place at this fair with the aim of promoting both reading and Valencian bookstores: workshops, recitals, author signings, roundtable discussions are just some of the activities you will find at this fair.

Challenge your Spanish skills

What better way to improve your reading skills in Spanish than challenging yourself to a Spanish book! You can use World Book Day as your starting point and really immerse yourself in literature from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Reading in Spanish rather than your native language offers a plethora of advantages as you’ll not only enhance your language proficiency but you’ll learn a diverse range of vocabulary and expressions that you may not necessarily learn whilst only speaking in class or doing grammar activities.
