Spectacular Nativity Scenes and Decorations
Did you know that this Friday at 7:00 PM Valencia will be covered in Christmas lights? You just need to go to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to see the Christmas lights’ switch on and the inauguration of the new life-sized nativity scene.
Additionally, the City of Valencia will have three municipal nativity scenes located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, within the town hall (Belenistas Association), and in the Plaza de la Reina.
A majestic Christmas tree, standing about 20 meters tall, adorns the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. This tree mimics nature and will be decorated with ornaments, gift boxes, and lights, accompanied by Christmas music to bring a festive atmosphere to the city.
Entertainment and Christmas Markets
The fun doesn’t stop with the decorations. You can go ice skating with your friends, go and see the carousel (merry-go-round), and the merchant’s train in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento until January 7, 2024. The ice skating rink is available for both adults and children.
From December 2 to January 7, 2024, every evening from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM, the streets of Valencia will be filled with light, magic, and color thanks to the Christmas decorations.
Moreover, you will see various Christmas markets starting to open up, and each one offers something different and unique! You can find them in all the well known places in Valencia, such as Plaza de la Reina, El Mercado Central and El Mercado de Colón.

One of the best things about Christmas in Valencia is that you can enjoy all the delicious food and snacks in the city! After walking around to see the lights, the best way to warm up is with some churros and chocolate, have you ever tried them? The best way to eat these fried pastries is to dip the churros into a big pot of chocolate, you will love them!
Another must eat food during Christmas is «turrón», a sweet treat consisting of nougat, toasted almonds, honey and sugar. They can be shaped like chocolate bars or sometimes round cakes. It is the perfect gift to buy for your family and friends back home!
