If 2020 is the year you have chosen to come to study in Valencia, or you are already living here, then here are some of the major events you might want to add to your diary! From local traditions to international events, you’ll be sure to immerse yourself in the Spanish culture and understand the Spanish way of life even more!

1. Las Fallas

   Every year between 15th-19th March, Valencia comes alive with its annual Fallas celebration! It is a festival which marks the arrival of spring and is also a religious holiday. Even though the key week of celebrations happens from March 15th to 19th, Valencia extends the festivities throughout the entire month. So there’s a lot to see and do at this time! Streets are decorated with lights and the smell of gunpowder fills the air from the infamous Mascletà. And you can’t miss the huge, colorful “monuments” (the fallas themselves) that are put up all over the city.

2. The 14th annual International Technology, Education and Development Conference (INTED)

   This is one of the largest international education conferences for lecturers, researchers, technologists, and professionals from the educational sector. About 700 experts from 80 countries are expected to gather between March 2nd and 4th in Valencia, to present their projects and share their experiences when it comes to teaching and learning methodologies, educational technologies and innovations. The 2020 edition of INTED is sure to be among the most successful education conferences in Europe.

3. Valencia Marine Week

   Valencia Marina Week, taking place between April 2nd to 5th, sees hundreds of sail boats, motorboats, kayaks, surfboards, paddle boards, and jet skis gather to be exhibited at the Valencia Marina in a celebration of the city’s maritime heritage!

4. The Festival of Arts

   On June 5th and 6th, the City of Arts and Sciences will host the Festival of Arts where national and international music talents will perform on 3 stages, as well as exhibitions of painters and designers on display. Gastronomical delights will also be available at the numerous food trucks set up at the Foodies Market.

5. Marc Anthony, the king of Salsa

   Marc Anthony, the top-selling Salsa artist has chosen Valencia as the first city on his European Opus tour and his concert in Valencia will take place on Friday, June 12th at Marina Sur. 

6. The Webit Forum 

   The city of Valencia was chosen to host this year’s edition of the Webit Forum, one of the key international technological events focused on digitalization and innovation. It will take place at the Valencia Marina on June 17th – 20th. The 2019 edition of the event took place in Sofia, Bulgaria and gathered more than 15,000 attendees from 120 countries, among those, 300 exhibitors and 500 investors.

7. Valencia – a paradise for runners

   In 2020 there are two big sports dates for runners and their fans to celebrate –  Valencia’s 30th Half Marathon on October 25th and Valencia’s 40th Marathon on December 6th. The marathon in 2019 gained lots of popularity internationally with a few records being broken and the anniversary event is expected to gather approximately 30,000 runners from all over the world.
