Student Blog: My First Impression of Valencia

Tereza is a student from Czech Republic who shared her first impressions upon arriving to Valencia!

Nice weather, friendly people, delicious food, beautiful streets with old historical buildings but also with a cool vibe. All of these were my expectations of Valencia. Did Valencia fulfill my expectations? Sí, sí and sí. Actually, my first impressions were even better!

Kindness on Every Corner

When I arrived to Valencia it was late at night and I had to take the metro to get to my Airbnb. Already at the metro station at the airport there was a boy who helped me when he saw I was struggling to get the ticket from the machine. Later when I was crossing the streets with my huge and heavy luggage one older guy asked me what street I was looking for and he was happy to give me the right directions.

Food is Essential

People in Valencia are not just kind but they are also big gourmands. I couldn’t wait to taste the typical food! The first day of my stay here I had to try the Valencian paella. So delicious! Mmm, and what did I eat for dessert? Of course the typical bunyols! Yummy fritters with a touch of pumpkin.

Romans Did it Right

After these very nourishing Spanish meals I needed to take a walk so I headed to the city centre to finally see the gorgeous streets of Valencia with my own eyes. I was impressed by how many towers and beautiful historical buildings there are on every corner of the streets! You really can see the influence of the Romans who founded the city of Valencia over 2100 years ago.

Sun, Food, Beach, Repeat

Valencia is just the perfect place where friendly people, delicious food, beautiful Spanish language, and amazing architecture meet. What is better than taking a bike ride with your friends to go together to the beach that lies along the city’s coastline? Right now the only thing I have on my mind is: Summer, please never end!
