Interview with One of Our Summer Interns!
We asked one of our interns about her experience in Valencia from this past summer and we’ve recorded her answers below to give you an idea of what a Euroace Experience is really like!
This intern was here for eight weeks over the summer. Apart from her internship, she integrated into the Spanish way of life by staying with a host family, taking Spanish courses, and participating in many cultural activities over the eight week program.
Why did you decide to come to Spain and specifically to Valencia?
I had wanted to study abroad in Spain since I was a sophomore in high school and Valencia seemed a wonderful city since it wasn’t too touristy but was still easy to navigate and enjoy.
It definitely took me a while to get used to the difference in timetables but my host mom was wonderful and supportive and walked me through many different cultural differences!
I loved walking around and enjoying Ciutat de las Artes y Ciencias. Kayaking was also very fun and exploring the city was always very enriching and exciting. My host mom also took me to a celebration with her extended family and they immediately excepted me and the men tried to teach me how to make paella!
Absolutely and then some! Many of the people I worked with were from different countries other than Spain and so these differences were extremely interesting to learn about and engage with.
I loved the kayaking experience.
I was extremely blessed with my host family. I felt immediately at home there and it just about eradicated any homesickness or adjustment period for me. They were also ready to answer questions, to share meals and to bring me into the rest of their family!
How would you rate your overall?
Amazing. I miss it! Thank you so much to everyone who made this trip amazing. I have definitely had international experiences in the past that were difficult but this one blew those out of the water. I feel so much more comfortable traveling to new places and staying with new people now. Thank you!
